Greg and Karen have been married for thirty years, and their journey together has taken them across the world, on road trips, through new countries, and into careers that shaped their shared love of service and connection.

Greg spent his career at the Ritz‑Carlton in San Francisco, retiring as the Director of Security. Over the years, he greeted and protected celebrities, royalty, and heads of state, always with the calm professionalism and warmth the Ritz Carlton is known for.

Karen’s path has woven through education, law, and labor, but her heart has always been in creating beauty, cooking for others, and rolling up her sleeves to make a place feel like home. She loves tending the farm, dreaming up new projects, and bringing a sense of creativity to everything she touches.

In 2019, Greg and Karen settled in Shasta County and began transforming their property into what is now Happy Valley Roadhouse, a sanctuary rooted in hospitality, nature, and the simple joy of welcoming others. Today, they spend their days renovating the farm, caring for their animals, and building a place where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and feel at home.
